Badgers Plummet in AP Top 25 After a Winless Week

After losing twice this week following an undefeated 8-0 start, the Wisconsin Badgers have dropped down to No. 20 in today's AP Top 25 Poll.

Wisconsin lost to Michigan and Marquette this week, who are now ranked 14th and 6th respectively, so it's not like the team suffered terrible losses. Still, some serious defensive concerns were exposed that the 8-2 Badgers will need to work out sooner rather than later.

After getting destroyed in the paint by Michigan big men Vlad Goldin and Danny Wolf to the tune of 44 points, the Badgers gave up 32 points to Kam Jones of Marquette. It's a troubling sign that the Badger defense may be the team's achilles' heel this season. Coming into the season, fans worried that the lack of a true rim-protector and defensive enforcer may hold the team back. It seems as though their fears were justified this week.

Luckily, the Badger offense has shown no signs of slowing down. Powered by transfer John Tonje, Wisconsin has scored 74 or more points in every game except one this year. Wisconsin's defense will have to work out their issues soon, as the meat of their conference schdule looms. They'll have a chance to right the ship on Tuesday against Illinois.
