Wisconsin volleyball has two more Big Ten games before the regular season ends and the tournament starts. With only two games left, it's almost assured that Wisconsin won't move much in the bracketology. ESPN seems to think they are locked in as a No. 3 seed in the tournament. Listing them as the fourth team in that line.
So, theoretically, they could move down if they lost the final two matches to Northwestern and Minnesota, but can't do much more to help their stock rise past the eleven teams in front of them. Now, this is all just projection from an ESPN volleyball expert.
Wisconsin volleyball's latest surge is coming at the right time for the NCAA Tournament
Yet, Wisconsin is also considered a top-10 team, and the tournament selection committee could evaluate them higher than ESPN and have them in that No. 2 tournament line. It's hard to know what will happen ahead of the Selection Sunday on Nov. 30, 5 pm CT on ESPN. Especially considering that Wisconsin has been surging lately.
The top four teams are pretty locked in, too, with Nebraska, Kentucky, and Texas all having a remarkable season. Arizona State is the fourth team listed by ESPN as a No. 1 seed, but it is currently ranked No. 9 in the volleyball rankings.
The No. 2 seeds are an interesting mix in ESPN's bracketology, with Pittsburgh and Stanford (who could both end up being No. 1 seeds), and SMU and Texas A&M. All of those teams are currently ranked higher than Wisconsin in the polls.
It's the 3-seed line that Wisconsin finds itself surrounded by Louisville, Purdue, and Creighton. Wisconsin recently swept Purdue, and Creighton is also ranked lower than the Badgers.
On Sunday, it will all become clear, but for now, ESPN thinks that Wisconsin is pretty locked in on that No. 3 line. Where will the selection committee place them? Could be in either the No. 2 or the No. 3 line.
