The Big Ten Network sat down with Billy Edwards Jr., Rico Hallman, and Jake Renfro during the Big Ten Media Days. They asked all sorts of questions, and one of the questions is a common one among Wisconsin fans: 'What is Jeff Grimes' offense going to look like at Wisconsin?' The answer that Billy Edwards Jr. gave was amazing.
Edwards turned to Hallman and Renfro and said, "Should I give it to them?" And Renfro was quick to reply with an affirmative, and then Edwards launched into a memorized and passionate quote about Grimes' offense. He said that it's a "Violent attacking offense who imposes its will on opponents through a dominant run game, vertical passing game, and a distortion in order to disrupt, disorient, and dictate terms on the defense."
Amazing. And the host loved it and asked Renfro if he could say it, and he quoted it right back to her with just as much passion as Edwards.
According to Billy Edwards and Jake Renfro this is Jeff Grimes' offensive plan

"A violent attacking offense who imposes its will on opponents through dominant run game, vertical passing game, and distortion in order to disrupt, disorient, and dictate terms to the defense."
Jeff Grimes' mantra is being memorized and now it's time to implement
Luke Fickell, at his press conference for Big Ten Media Days, discussed the four phases of complementary football: offense, defense, special teams, and culture. Fickell says the goal for Wisconsin is to be elite and win in all four of those phases. How is that accomplished on offense? What are the complementary pieces?
It's a violent attacking scheme that messes with defenses both in the air and on the ground. Grimes' mantra emphasizes the goal of imposing the offensive will on the defense of their opponents, highlighting a vertical passing game (which appears to be a key to understanding his scheme) and a dominant run game (which is encouraging to hear).
Now the goal for Grimes and Wisconsin is not just to talk about it but to be about it. Not just to say it but to actually execute it. It's fantastic to hear and to read, but let's see it in action.
