Wisconsin had a ton of momentum with 4-star offensive tackle recruit Cameron Wagner. In the last few weeks, it seems like the momentum was shifting, and Oregon began to emerge. Yet, the hope wasn't lost; Luke Fickell had a scheduled official visit on the books for Wagner. He was set to arrive in Madison early in the process and hopefully make his decision relatively quickly after. However, the timeline changed as Dan Lanning sped things up quickly for Wagner.
Today, the Ducks landed Wagner, and Lanning was able to rip any hope away from Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Illinois. Grabbing his commitment weeks before the visit season for the 2027 recruiting.

Wagner is a loss for offensive line coach Eric Mateos, but it doesn't come as a big blow. The Badgers already have four offensive linemen in the 2027 recruiting class, including high-priority in-state target Cole Reiter, a four-star recruit in his own right.
It does make you wonder if Wisconsin started to slip in Wagner's mind as other linemen were committing to the Badgers. Wagner seemed to really shift his focus in the last couple of weeks. Some even thought that Illinois could pull it off; however, in the end, Wagner is headed to the Pacific Northwest to play for Lanning and the Ducks.
Wisconsin will now shift gears towards other top targets, and they even made the final four for a talented offensive lineman named Reed Gerken. He's a 3-star talent out of Ohio who is deciding between Illinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Virginia Tech.
One of the secret sauces of Wisconsin over the decades is stacking up offensive line talent. Whether it's Reiter, Wagner, or even Gerken. There's never enough, and ultimately, the Badgers continue to be OL-U.
