Wisconsin fans are closely monitoring potential coaching candidates as Luke Fickell's seat is as hot as it gets. If it wasn't for the huge buyout, he may have already been canned. A new name popped onto the market this morning in Ed Orgeron, and it's a name that should go in one ear and out the other. Not just for Wisconsin but for any fanbase. He's a coach to avoid, not chase.
Not that Wisconsin or even Coach O would have ever been interested in each other, but the name was floated, and it's a quick no.

Ed Oregeron is wanting back into coaching and Wisconsin should pass

From the Xs and Os standpoint, he seems like he could be a good fit. He likes aggressive defenses and tough, physical offenses. He wants his players to be the grittiest, toughest players on the field. Coach O would technically push Wisconsin back towards the bully style of play, but it actually wouldn't work.
Coach O is a one-hit wonder and is not a culture builder. He can recruit and fire up the team, but he has never been able to create an identity. While he wants tough defenses and offenses, he often lets coordinators pick the offensive schemes. Under him, they've tried everything from air raid to pro-style and things in between.
This is the exact problem we seem to have unearthed with Fickell. He can't build a culture, and he also changes identities to whatever he thinks is cute. While the latest change is a welcome change to a more balanced offensive attack, it's year four, and no one knows what style of football Wisconsin is. That's not good and points to a larger coaching problem, one that Coach O shares.
It's an easy pass if Wisconsin's job opens, and Coach O comes knocking.
