We once again are walking away from a game and arguably most impressed with the Wisconsin punter. That's usually a bad thing: that the punter is the star player. But both times that Sean West has gotten the attention of the nation, it's because of some crazy theatrics. He was the leading passer against Washington in a win with 24 yards.
Yet, this time against Notre Dame, it's because he may have pulled off the most impressive punt in the history of football. It's up there with the very, very best, if not No. 1. He executed a coffin corner that people will be talking about for a long time. In fact, people are still talking about it days later, and some of the biggest names in sports media, like Pat McAfee.
The below social media post went live about five minutes before this article was written.
In that moment that we were celebrating a punt... I realized how far we've come. https://t.co/nRpZGUFeDz

The McAfee post came almost immediately after West made the punt, and in McAfee fashion, he is yelling and enjoying the yardage as much as the punt. This will not be explained in this article, as this is a family-friendly site. McAfee was an NFL punter before he became the wild sports personality we are used to today. He's a fan of amazing punts, and this one was as perfect as it gets.
McAfee spent two posts on it, the first is below and the second was just the clip of the punt.

Sean West is the punter for the Wisconsin Badgers and pulled off a 69-yard punt that pinned Notre Dame inside the 1-yard line.

That final video shows just how incredible it was; it landed at the one and then spun out of bounds, pinning Notre Dame deep. It was wildly impressive, and then he topped it off with a celebration that he learned from McAfee. "I actually had another Pat McAfee celebration last year too." Sean West told reporters, "Do something good; it's fun to have a little celebration."
He actually had another punt later in the game that was also impressive, with it going end over end, landing inside the five-yard line, and his teammate going to down it, accidentally sending it into the end zone as he was diving on it. It would have been the second amazing punt of the game.
And this is maybe the larger point: West is a good punter. It wasn't luck that he got that ball to land at the one-yard line; maybe the bounce was a bit fortunate, but he can pinpoint his targets and drop in dimes. Then the job is up to his gunners to get the ball and drive it as close to the end zone as possible. Setting up the defense for a big stop.
Buckle up, because the networks are going to have that clip ready for Wisconsin and Sean West all season, and Badger fans can be proud.
