The Atlanta Falcons are in trouble with their offensive line depth. It went from being a strength on their team to a gaping hole. When they drafted Jack Nelson, the plan was always a practice squad unless he really showed off or if there were injuries. The second became a quick reality with Storm Norton and Kaleb McGary both being injured.

Atlanta Falcons fans have been unimpressed with 7th-round pick Nelson out of Wisconsin. There's a reason he's a seventh-round pick: he needs time to develop. However, he's been thrust into the spotlight and even started against the Dallas Cowboys. His results haven't been great.

He's had good moments but also plenty of plays in which he looks overmatched and out of position. Yet, he may end up being a key part to what the Falcons are doing this season, and he will have to learn quickly.

Jack Nelson is not gaining fans early in his NFL career as he has struggled in the preseason

Fans have turned on him already as you can see on social media. Here are some examples.

The one Atlanta Falcons fan that seems to have a handle on the situation and may be closer to what Raheem Morris feels about him said this:

Raheem Morris, after the final preseason game, referenced Nelson as a part of their plan from now on without Kaleb McGary and Storm Norton. He probably won't be a starter, but will need to be ready on the depth chart. Morris was happy with how much they've prepared Nelson, "We got Jack Nelson a significant amount of reps in the preseason."

Of course, things could change as roster cuts are coming soon but don't be surprised to see Nelson make the roster or at worst end up on the practice squad. The former Badger has shown flashes of quality play but needs to get his NFL feet under him in a developmental role going forward.
