Former Badger guard Johnny Davis is coming home. The Milwaukee Bucks' G-League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, has traded for Davis, bringing him back to his home state for 2025.

The Herd will receive Johnny Davis from the Westchester Knicks in exchange for the rights to Diego Bernard and Jalen Lewis, a draft pick in the 2026 NBA G League Player Draft and a pick in the 2026 NBA G League International Draft.

Former Badger Davis makes his way back to Wisconsin

For now, barring any potential overseas deals, it appears as though Davis will make his way back to the state of Wisconsin. Davis was selected 10th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards after an incredible sophomore season with Wisconsin. His time in Washington didn't go to plan, however, after averaging just 3.5 points and 1.6 rebounds in 11 minutes per game. Davis then moved down to the G-league, and has played well, but has yet to make it back up to the NBA level.

Davis may opt for a more lucrative international deal, but for now it's great to see Davis back in Wisconsin. He's still just 23-years old and an opportunity to play in the NBA is still very possible--just ask Nigel Hayes.

Davis, a La Crosse native, was a star at Wisconsin where he averaged 13.4 points, 6.2 reboundsĀ and 1.6 assists in his two seasons. During his sophomore season, Davis averaged 19.7 points per game and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and First-Team All-American.
