In the Indianapolis Colts first preseason game of the season, former Badger Hunter Wohler drew the start and did not disappoint. The seventh-round pick faces an uphill battle to make the Colts active roster this year, but Wohler gave the team plenty of reasons why he should make it during tonight's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Wohler was absolutely flying around the field, racking up nine tackles in the first half before heading to bench. And while the Colts defense as a whole gave up some big plays in the run, Wohler was one of the most impactful players on the field. His nine tackles led all Colts players on the night.

Wohler also wore the green dot while he played, meaning all the defensive calls were coming into him. That's obviously a lot of trust coming from the Colts for a rookie seventh-round draft pick to be the one to relay the play calls. They also played him all over the field, with Wohler lining up deep, in the box, and even on the outside at cornerback.
To Badger fans, none of this is surprising. Wohler was always a physical, aggressive player, as well as a great leader on and off the field. After making several impressive interceptions in practice this week, he followed it up with a very strong performance Thursday night. While the Colts still have some things to figure out before the season, Wohler is already making a strong case for some legitimate play time as a rookie.
