Former Badger Keontez Lewis, who is making a name for himself on the Oklahoma Sooners, left the game due to a head injury on Saturday against Temple. He never returned, and he's being evaluated for a concussion. Initially, head coach Brent Venables said this about Lewis, "Hopefully, he’ll recover quickly. Looking at the replay, hard to tell what it was. But he got his bell rung, for sure.”

The status of Lewis hasn't been updated for the coming week, and there are indications he may be in concussion protocol. It will be something to watch for the early receiving star for the Sooners and the former Badger.

Lewis had a breakout game to start the season with nine receptions and 119 yards with two touchdowns. It has been his best game of the year so far. In the game against Michigan, he only had three receptions for 36 yards. He was looking for a big bounce back against Temple, but was injured after only three catches for 26 yards.

After two games, he was the second leading receiver for the Sooners. Through three, even though he was injured in the third game, he's third but second among wide receivers behind Deion Burks. He may have been up towards the team lead had he continued to play against Temple. He had seven targets to lead the team in the first half. He's clearly one of John Mateer's favorite targets.

It has been great to see the former Wisconsin Badger who couldn't really find his way consistently on the Badgers. He was looking for a new opportunity, and the Sooners gave it to him, and so far it's seemed to be a good fit. If he can bounce back from this injury quickly, this season is shaping up to be a big one for Lewis.
