Zack Baun makes the play of the half in Super Bowl LIX
Baun laid out for an incredible interception with just under two minutes remaining in the half. He jumped in front of a Patrick Mahomes throw to give the Eagles the ball at the 14-yard line. Wide receiver A.J. Brown would score just seconds later, putting Philadelphia up 24-0 at half over the Chiefs.
The play will come as no surprise to Badger fans, but Baun has been enjoying a breakout season this year in the NFL. He finished the season with a career-high 151 tackles, 3.5 sacks and five forced fumbles on his way to All-Pro honors. The linebacker was even a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year. This way his second interception of the postseason, after snagging one against the hometown Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.
Another former Badger, linebacker Leo Chenal, is on the opposite sideline for this game, ensuring that one Badger will be a Super Bowl winner. However, he and the Chiefs will have a lot of ground to make up to catch Baun and the Eagles.
