After committing to the Badgers last July, quarterback Jarin Mock announced Wisconsin will no longer include him in their 2026 recruiting class. He posted on social media that his recruitment will now be 100% open.
QB Jarin Mock claims Wisconsin will not honor his commitment moving forward
Mock was a three-star prospect who originally committed to Wisconsin when offensive coordinator Phil Longo was still with the university. It appears now that Luke Fickell and newly appointed offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes didn't have Mock in their future plans.
After Longo's firing, Mock emphasized to 247 Sports that things would not change from his perspective and that he was all in on his commitment to Wisconsin.
"Coach Longo was one of the biggest parts of my recruitment and my commitment to Wisconsin, but one coach doesn't make a whole program. I'm committed to the program, not the coach," he said.
The 6-3, 200-pound quarterback from Ohio took to social media to announce the breakup, and made it clear that it was Wisconsin, not him, who wanted to go their separate ways. Mock had offers from Central Michigan, Marshall, UMass, and Miami (OH) before committing to the Badgers, and will now begin the search for a new home.
Parting ways with Mock is the first of potentially several more moves Luke Fickell and the Badgers make as they try to align themselves with Grimes' style of play. Without Mock, they currently have just one commitment for the class of 2026 in offensive lineman Benjamin Novak.
