Multiple reports have stated that the Wisconsin Badgers football team has landed a new offensive coordinator. That'd be Jeff Grimes, formerly the OC for the Kansas Jayhawks. While Kansas fans can't stop trolling the Badgers over poaching him, this is an exciting hire for head man Luke Fickell.
However, everyone is still waiting on UW to make things official. That's right, no announcement from the school has arrived, but things are no doubt a done deal with Grimes and Wisconsin. Need further proof of that? On social media, Grimes has already changed his cover photo to Camp Randall Stadium. Yup, he's excited to get to work with the Badgers:
Jeff Grimes has confirmed he'll be the new Wisconsin OC
While Grimes is fired up for this next chapter in his coaching career, he sure has a lot of work in front of him. Wisconsin closed out the season 5-7, ending its 22-year streak of posting a winning season/going to a bowl game. It's unacceptable.
The offense looked terrible in 2024, which played a big role in the Badgers losing the final five games of the fall - this came after starting off 5-2. It's unknown who will be QB1 in 2025, especially with Tyler Van Dyke still mulling things over about his future.
If Van Dyke doesn't return, could Wisconsin end up going after a stud signal-caller in the transfer portal? The Badgers and Fickell have already been linked to Texas A&M transfer Conner Weigman, who is ranked the No. 1 QB who will be entering the portal.
All in all, there are going to be a lot of changes for the Wisconsin offense in '25, but the good news is that Grimes has loads of experience and he knows how to win. He'll need to bring a winning mentality to UW to help this squad get back on track.
