Wisconsin Badgers have done an exceptional job over the years of creating pros in the NFL, around the world, and even in the coaching ranks. One of the former players of the Wisconsin Badgers is now set to become the new secondary coach at Coastal Carolinathe . Keelon Brookins played for three years for the Badgers and then transferred to University of Northern Iowa to finish his career before becoming a coach.

Keelon Brookins, former defensive back for Wisconsin, is being hired as the secondary coach at Coastal Carolina.

Brookins coached last year at Louisiana Tech. Before that, he was at Northern Iowa on two different stints in 2023 and 2018-2021. During that 2022 year, he coached at Kent State. He now comes to Coastal Carolina to work with brand new defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson.

Johnson was hired earlier today, and he has already made a choice with his secondary assistant in Brookins. This should come as no surprise as Brookins has worked under Johnson before at UNI. Brookins is one of the rising stars in the defensive coaching world, as he's helped multiple players become first-team in their conferences. Louisana Tech said this about him:

"In 2023, Brookins', defensive backs combined for seven interceptions, 11 pass breakups, and 301 total tackles. He tutored UNI senior defensive back Woo Governor who earned First-Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors after tallying 62 total tackles, including three for loss with two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery."

Brookins did not make a huge impact in the statistical categories for Wisconsin, which is why he eventually went to UNI. However, he was part of the 2017 Cotton Bowl win for the Badgers. He also played linebacker, safety, defensive back, and special teams at Wisconsin. Badger fans can be proud of him and where his career continues to be headed as he rises in the coaching ranks.
