The Indiana Pacers announced today that they have signed former center Micah Potter. The specifics of the deal weren't disclosed, but he is available to play for the Pacers immediately, maybe even as early as tonight against the Boston Celtics.

The Pacers are in need of help in the paint, and Potter may end up being called upon immediately. The release of James Wiseman sparked varying levels of frustration among Indiana fans, but Wisconsin fans were thrilled to see their former big man sign an NBA contract.

This isn't Potter's first go around with the NBA. While he started his career as an undrafted free agent, he's taken a stroll through different places and contracts in his desire to play consistently in the NBA. The Miami Heat were the first to give him an NBA tryout, but he never did make it to the NBA level and spent much of his time in the depths of the G-League squad, Sioux Falls Skyforce.

It was the Utah Jazz (who seem to love former Wisconsin Badgers) that first got him all the way to the NBA level. He was on a two-way contract with the Jazz and ultimately played 38 times with 10 starts for the Jazz in the 2024 season.

In the offseason, he ended up with the G League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs before finally signing with the Indiana Pacers today.

As a Badger, he was a star and was named to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Watch List in 2021. He came to Wisconsin as a transfer from Ohio State. He spent two years playing for Wisconsin, and in his senior year, he averaged 12.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 50.4% from the floor.
