Tyler Van Dyke is on the move again, and this time to SMU, where he will get another chance to recreate his college career. He has a total of 7,900 passing yards and 58 touchdowns, but barely any of that comes from Wisconsin, as he had a frustrating, injury-plagued year. He suffered an ACL tear in his right knee when the Badgers faced off against Alabama. The rest of the year went to Braedyn Locke, and the season went with it.

Former Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is transferring to SMU.

He came in with all sorts of hype and excitement as he had an excellent career at Miami and was due to bring forth great things for the Badgers, but it wasn't meant to be. His injury derailed his season, but hopefully, not his career, as he heads on to SMU.

One Wisconsin Badger fan found a funny comparison between Van Dyke's career and Aaron Rodger's when he first came to the New York Jets.

It's a good opportunity for Van Dyke to go and find another place to start. Wisconsin had decided to move on, and so did Van Dyke. The Badgers and Luke Fickell have brought in two brand-new quarterbacks who will compete for the starting job. Billy Edwards Jr. from Maryland may be the front runner as he was a starter for the Terrapins and had 2,881 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2024.

The other transfer quarterback that Fickell picked up is Danny O'Neil, who transferred from the San Diego State Aztecs. He also was a starter in 2024 and had a good season with 2,181 yards and 12 touchdowns. It will be a true competition come spring when the two take the field together for the first time. The good news is that if another injury happens like it did for Van Dyke, there will be a viable backup to step in and carry the offense.
