Once a Badger, always a Badger. That's how plenty of Wisconsin supporters feel and they're always going to have their eyes on players who either make their way to the NFL or play professional ball elsewhere. That's why there was plenty of focus on running back Isaac Guerendo on Monday night.

In what turned out to be a thrilling showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, former Wisconsin RB Guerendo looked fantastic taking over as the team's lead back. With Christian McCaffrey still out and Jordan Mason suffering another injury, Guerendo's number was called and he took full advantage of his extra opportunities:

Former Wisconsin RB Isaac Guerendo looked strong for the 49ers in primetime

On the night, in a 30-24 San Francisco victory, Guerendo posted 14 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown. That TD is one he's always going to remember, as it was his first in the NFL. That moment was probably something he dreamed about as a kid - doing so against Dallas probably made things extra special.

The youngster spent five seasons with Wisconsin and then transferred to Louisville for his final year of eligibility. Things never quite worked out for Guerendo, as he was behind on the depth chart during his time in Madison.

However, that didn't stop him from posting 385 yards and five touchdowns in 2022, which were both career-highs. Last season for Louisville, the brusing back rushed for 810 yards and 11 scores. After that solid season and his strong work ahead of the NFL Draft, it led to him being a fourth-round pick.

San Francisco liked what they saw out of him and decided to give him a shot due to injuries. It paid off big time for them and the running back. Yes, Guerendo's time with the Badgers wasn't what everyone envisioned and it was tough to see him leave campus. However, fans are still rooting for this kid and plenty of people all over Wisconsin were pretty fired up to see him do so well in primetime.
