The hiring of James White to the Illinois coaching staff caused some ripples throughout the Wisconsin fanbase. While Badger fans are happy for White to pursue his coaching career, they are frustrated that former stars aren't going to get those opportunities at Wisconsin. Players like James White could be excellent assistant running backs coaches for the Badgers, but that was never in play.

Former star CB Sojourn Shelton is also frustrated about this and called out the hiring decisions of the Wisconsin leadership. He took to social media to air his dissatisfaction.

Shelton brings up some important frustrations. For example, the talk coming out of Camp Randall is "we need to get it back to how it used to be." Or, "Wisconsin football is special and needs to be and will be again." However, Shelton says, the players who were part of those eras are not being asked to return.

Shelton retweeted the news of James White being hired by Illinois and then went on this rant. It's clear that he is frustrated with Luke Fickell and his hiring decisions, as are many fans. There isn't a lot of desire to bring in voices from the past to help bring Wisconsin into the future. Even Barry Alvarez last month indicated his displeasure with Wisconsin football.

The program needs to get back on the right track. Whether they are hired to coach or just be around the program, taking care of star alumni is important, especially when they want to get into coaching or simply have a great locker room voice that the players need to hear.

It's not known if Shelton is one of those former players that would like to coach but obviously has seen other former Badger stars go coach at other places and is tired of it. As are the fans.
