Wisconsin lost one of the best women's basketball players ever to don a Badgers uniform this offseason when Serah Williams jumped in the transfer portal. It came as no surprise for a variety of reasons; notably, her head coach had left, and she was so good she could easily go to a team and chase a championship. That is precisely what happened next, not to spoil the ending, but Williams is transferring to UCONN and hoping to be cutting down nets at the end of the season.

Serah Williams has committed to the UCONN Huskies after transferring from Wisconsin
Serah Williams was an absolute star for the Wisconsin Badgers over the last three seasons, and her final one in a Badger uniform was her best. She averaged 19.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. She had an incredible 14 double-doubles on the season, constantly being a highlight reel and the main go-to player for Wisconsin.
She truly was one of the best players in the Big Ten and one of the best players in the country, and she deserves to go chase a championship in her senior season while Wisconsin spends a year or two rebuilding and reloading.
Wisconsin fans seem genuinely excited for her and are rooting for her as she heads to a new stop. There will be a bit of scoreboard-watching and stat-line peaking from Badger fans as they check on Williams.
While Wisconsin would have loved to have her back, it was time for Williams to make a name for herself elsewhere and pursue other career goals. The Badgers have been able to reload in the transfer portal and should be able to put together a decent product for next season, hopefully taking a step forward out of the basement of the Big Ten. Robin Pingeton seems to have a plan and has recruited good players to stay competitive next season in the conference.
