The Badgers needed a win against Minnesota, not only to keep their brief hopes at a bowl game alive, but also to reclaim Paul Bunyan's Axe. However, after another poor offensive performance, Wisconsin fell to the Gophers 17-7, who then proceeded to immediately troll the Badgers right after the final whistle blew.
Wisconsin struggled to move the ball throughout the game, and outside of a highlight reel touchdown grab, it never got into any sort of rhythm. Minnesota on the other hand, had little trouble navigating the snowy conditions, and took no time letting the Badger state know after the game.
The Gophers blared Wisconsin's famous 'Jump Around' at Huntington Bank Stadium as the Badgers once again left empty-handed.

The Gophers continue their recent dominance of the Badgers
After losing to Minnesota for the fourth time in five years, Wisconsin didn't have much to celebrate as they left the field. The Badgers fell to 4-8 on the season, their worst record since 1995, and the Gophers took full advantage of the opportunity to gloat. It was the seventh time this season that Wisconsin scored 10 points or fewer.
Wisconsin has now slugged through back-to-back losing seasons and has also failed to capture many rivalry trophies in the process. The Badgers are now 2-6 in trophy games under head coach Luke Fickell, and 2025 didn't show much improvement. Earlier in the year, Iowa blew out the Badgers 37-0, and now after tonight, Minnesota retains the Axe for at least another year.
Seeing Minnesota celebrate with Wisconsin's song is certainly a fitting way to see the season come to a close. Despite a few upset victories against Washington and Illinois, the Badgers struggled to garner any sort of consistency this year. Still, despite the losing seasons, fans can expect Fickell back in 2026 with a significant financial investment.
