Things didn't go according to plan for the Wisconsin Badgers early on in the season-opener against Holy Cross. However, after trailing by 16 points in the opening 20 minutes of action, Greg Gard made some adjustments and his team outscored their opponents 80-40.
Yeah, that's how you respond. With things out of reach late in the game, Gard went to his bench and a special moment was posted when his son Isaac was able to take the floor. Well, then things became downright incredible, as Gard's son drilled a 3-pointer - it was awesome to see.
It's no doubt a special moment for the entire Gard family as a whole, as the Badgers are 1-0 to start the year, while Gard powered his team to a comeback win and his youngster knocked down a big-time shot. Everyone is all smiles, except for maybe Gard's wife? He joked that's the case:
Greg Gard made key adjustments to help Wisconsin take down Holy Cross
Gard's now in the dog house?! In all seriousness, we're sure Mrs. Gard might be a little ticked off she wasn't able to see things live in Madison that night, but there will be other opportunities for her to make her way to the stadium to see Isaac suit up.
As for Wisconsin as a whole, Gard was able to avoid a total nightmare to open the campaign. With the Badgers down at halftime, there were plenty of people who were ripping him on social media, even calling for him to be fired. Thankfully, Gard was able to silence his haters in the best way possible.
Next up for the Badgers will be a Thursday night showdown against Montana State. This is another game Wisconsin MBB should have no issues coming out on top of. Don't be surprised if Isaac hits the floor late in this one too. Maybe his mom will be on hand to see him drill a 3-pointer this time around.
