The story of the summer thus far for Wisconsin athletics has been recruiting. Between football's dominance in the class of ‘27, volleyball's typical high-profile talent acquisition and now basketball's recent surge, things are looking brighter than ever in Madison. Men’s basketball in particular has really found its groove after multiple down years of not being able to bring in high-end talent from the high school ranks.
Landing Jalen Brown and Jack Thelen was likely enough to satisfy a majority of fans, as the Badgers are rarely able to land players with their kind of upside. However, following his visit to Madison this past Wednesday, top-60 recruit Baboucarr Ann has become more connected than ever to Wisconsin, with Rivals giving him a 93% chance to land with the Badgers.

Ann would overtake Brown as the highest-ranked recruit for the Badgers this decade, at least for now, with Ann being ranked the 63rd overall composite recruit. As I'm sure you can imagine, he didn't earn that billing for no reason either, as Ann’s skill set is one that clearly warrants serious recruiting interest.
Endless Upside
The 6-foot-5 forward is a sturdy and powerful athlete capable of overwhelming defenses with his athletic and physical gifts. He isn't just an athlete either, as Ann possesses a really strong handle — particularly for a player his size — allowing him to handle the ball in spurts. He pairs that handle with some interesting passing feel as well, making him all the more dynamic when moving toward the rim.

The jump shot remains a bit of a question for Ann, as it is by no means his most developed trait, but also not a lost cause. He has proven capable of hitting shots from the outside, particularly off the catch when given space, giving hope that with added reps he can develop into a solid shooter. For now, he remains a bit reluctant, relying more on his athleticism and downhill creation to generate his offensive production.
Overall, Ann is a bit more of a project than many would like to admit, but the talent is off the charts. If Wisconsin were able to land him, Ann likely wouldn't be as ready for game reps as fellow ‘27 commit Brown is, but he would not be far behind. Nonetheless, Ann would be a massive recruiting get for the Badgers, likely propelling them toward the top of the ‘27 recruiting rankings.
