The Wisconsin Badgers were able to take care of business in the first round against the Montana Grizzlies and nearly won by 20 points with a final score of 85-66. The Grizzlies battled and stayed within striking distance for the majority of the game. They were perpetually within seven to nine points until finally Wisconsin could extend the lead and put the game away.

It wasn't a perfect game for the Badgers, but they not only won but also won against the spread (17.5). They looked pretty solid in the second half and kept a scrappy team from getting any momentum. However, Wisconsin's Greg Gard says Wisconsin can play so much better.

After Wisconsin beat Montana in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Greg Gard said, "I think we can play even better."

Gard was happy with the win, but in his typical fashion, he wasn't content. He felt that the Badgers didn't execute to the level he expected from them. Which in many ways should terrify the rest of the field. If the Badgers can get up to the level that they need to and should play at, they could go on an impressive run.

What exactly can they do better? According to Gard, it's taking care of the ball even more. While the Badgers only had 11 turnovers (and two of them came with the bench in at the end of the game), it's not quite the care for the basketball he wants from them. He also thought they were a little out of sync at times on the offensive side.

The Badgers scored 85 points in an NCAA Tournament game. There were moments in the game when they couldn't buy a bucket and had a couple of long, dry spells. He wants this to be better in the next game, too. He concluded with, "Now you take another step." They could have scored more, and Gard knows it. If they take that next step, the other teams in the field better watch out.
