The Illinois Fighting Illini had a fun promo and giveaway before the Wisconsin game: "Jake Davis Wig Night." The Illinois forward who rocks some curly locks. Entire sections of the arena were wearing the wig, and somehow, Greg Gard found one. He decided to include that in his postgame celebration with this team in a jovial, playful, troll on both Illinois, but also embracing the win in a way to make his team laugh.

It's a must-see video put out by the Wisconsin basketball social media team. You can see Gard getting the wig situated, flipping it behind his shoulder, and running into the locker room to celebrate knocking off No. 8 Illinois.

In the post-game speech, the emphasis that Gard had with his team was on rebounding and limiting Illinois' second chances. While Illinois technically out-rebounded Wisconsin overall 38-35, the Illini only had eight offensive rebounds. It's a team that averages over 13 per game.

Wisconsin needed to do a few things well to beat Illinois; they needed to keep pace with the high-powered offense, but they also had to limit second-chance points. The Illini are great at scoring at every level with every player, and while they did plenty of that, Wisconsin kept reloading in their own right.

It was a game that no one expected Wisconsin to win, but John Blackwell said it best after the game, "We are the villains." They've embraced the role of giant-killers, and now they know they can beat any team in the country. The goal will be to continue to do it week in and week out.

The wig was playful and fun, but this is a team that other teams will start to fear on their schedule and lining up against them on any given night. You never know if you are getting the villains or not. Gard's plea to his team is to keep that going every game.
