Greg Gard with some impeccable timing on a brand new overseas addition. Earlier today, we ran a post about how Gard may be done adding after getting to 13 players on the roster. It was noted that if there was a good fit, Gard would do it, but he's not scared to not fill all his scholarships. Hours later, Gard found that good fit and added his 14th player, Isaac Riddle from Australia.

If Gard was going to add anywhere, it seems like adding one more big man was the move, as there were only four, and that's just too risky with injuries. Riddle will help fill the depth chart for the Badgers.

Wisconsin signs Isaac Riddle from Australia to fill out the 14-person roster

The "down-under" pipeline to Wisconsin continues to be a thing. Wisconsin will now have five players who hail from either New Zealand or Australia. Austin Rapp, Hayden Jones, Owen Foxwell, Jackson Ball, and Isaac Riddle.

The way Gard talks about Riddle seems to indicate that he's a work in progress and that this next year, it will be less about playing time and more about development. He said, "For our program, it's a very good time to bring in a budding star from their national team and help Isaac with the next steps in his career." He goes on to say that Riddle has a great desire to grow.

For Australia, he's played in both the U17 and U16 FIBA showcases. He's got some game and flashes of extreme potential. The Badgers' press release mentions a game against Fiji in which he scored 20 points and another against Guam, where he scored 19.

For the Badgers, it's a very important depth piece to bring the roster up to five bigs. While Riddle may not see much time in his freshman season, he adds depth that hopefully Gard doesn't need to use, but has to have.
