The Wisconsin Women's hockey program is the best in the nation, sitting at 33-1-2 overall. The Badgers just came off a two-game series in which they bested Bemidji State in a two-game series, 3-0 and 11-0, respectively. It was a dominant performance and in that series center Casey O'Brien became the new all-time leader in career points passing the previous record holder Hilary Knight.

Casey O'Brien now has 265 career points passing Hilary Knight in the record books for Wisconsin Women's Hockey

O'Brien needed six more points to break the record going into the series against Bemidji State, which is a lot to accomplish in two games. However, forward Lacey Eden said before the series that "at the rate she's racking them up, she'll probably do it this weekend." It turns out Eden was right. O'Brien would do it against Bemidji State. It wasn't easy for O'Brien though.

The first game she only got one point with the single assist in the 3-0 win. It was that second game in which the Wisconsin women's hockey program scored 11 goals that O'Brien was able to seal the deal and pass up Knight in the record books. O'Brien had five assists and one goal to get to the career 265 officially cementing her name at the top.

Knight sent a video message to O'Brien with a sweet congratulations message, "Casey, congratulations on breaking the points records...it's a testament to how you show up every single day, so congrats, well earned, I know it's been a lot of hard work. I'm really excited for the future and what's next and go Badgers!"

Knight is still second on the list with 262 career points. The Wisconsin women's hockey program has been dominant, arguably since about 2005, but certainly by 2006. Knight played from 2007-2012 in which she accumulated 143 goals and 119 assists over 161 games. If Wisconsin continues to excel in women's hockey year after year, it won't be long before another record is broken. That's what winning programs continue to do.
