It is not about having what you want, but wanting what you've got. As we soak up the sun like Sheryl Crow all day long in the lead-up to Saturday night, points will undeniably be at a premium for the latest installment of the Heartland Trophy. Iowa will be laying 3.5 points on the road at Camp Randall to Wisconsin. While that feels like a stay away spread, the line of intrigue has to be the point total!
Only a projected 35.5 points are expected to come in this game. It has gone down a full point since Tuesday. At this time, the projected final score at this time is Iowa 19.5 and Wisconsin 16. The first team to score three touchdowns is most certainly going to win. There will be a lot of field goals and some of the best special teams you will ever see. Kirk Ferentz will be loving this more than his son.
Ben Stevens was the one to point out that this is the lost projected point total of the season so far.
There have been 414 FBS games with betting odds so far in 2025.

Only two (2) games have had a total of 40 points or fewer, none lower than O/U 37.5.
Which means that Iowa-Wisconsin on Saturday is set to have the LOWEST total of the year at O/U 35.5 pts.

Nature is healing, or so they say... The funny part in this is Wisconsin's offensive ineptitude is playing a huge part in this. Nobody likes to score fewer points than a Ferentz-led Hawkeyes team. It is as if Brian has come home and is still calling plays for Iowa instead of Tim Lester. As far as the Badgers are concerned, Luke Fickell has no feel for the quarterback position, and it is rubbing off on Ferentz, too!
While the low-scoring nature of this one gives Wisconsin a real shot, Ferentz lives for these games.
There may be more punts than points scored in Iowa at Wisconsin game
You may have to admit it, but these are the type of games Big Ten football was built upon. While there are games happening over in the Big 12 where both teams combined to hit the over midway through the first quarter, Iowa and Wisconsin will put their fans through the wringer because that is what they do! While Fickell may thoroughly enjoy games like these, Fickell just wants to win another in Madison.
Although this is Wisconsin's last best chance at getting a conference victory this season, nothing is guaranteed at Camp Randall this week. Iowa may stoop to anyone's level within the constructs of league play, but the Hawkeyes are always going to bring a level of physicality to the college football gridiron. Points may be at a premium in this one, but that might be because Iowa prefers it that way.
In the end, one must channel their inner sicko to be able to stomach this game. Every completion will be a celebratory event. Every third-down conversion will be a bonanza. Every scoring play will be an extravaganza bigger than this side of Lollapalooza. Jane said she was done with Sergio, but we cannot quit this game, even if it treats us like a ragdoll every time we watch it. We are addicted to it.
Even if nature is healing, Ferentz is still holding Iowa hostage, as Fickell steals money from Wisconsin.
