The NCAA men's basketball transfer portal has been very good to the Wisconsin Badgers and head coach Greg Gard. He has added three top players and only lost from his depth and the bottom part of the bench. Last week, On3.com had Wisconsin ranked as the No. 1 team in the transfer portal so far this year. However, after basically getting the entire starting lineup figured out and with three incoming freshmen too, is Greg Gard done? Did he check all the boxes, and will he now just sit around?
John Blackwell was asked about this by 24/7 Sports' Evan Flood and the answer was a definite, "No!"
Had a great talk with John Blackwell about his future.

When asked about the recent additions via the portal, Blackwell smirked:
"They're gonna go get some more too...Coach Gard is not done."#Badgers pic.twitter.com/N2uAMGdrhi
Star Badgers' guard John Blackwell said, "Coach Gard is not done [in the transfer portal]."
The math makes sense, as according to new NCAA rules, there are now 15 scholarships per men's basketball team. It also adds up because Wisconsin has lost 11 players to either graduation or the portal. The incoming six is not enough to replace all that was lost. You can expect that Gard will at least get up to 13 scholarship players for next season. He currently only has 12 (including walk-ons).
The big question also comes from the person who made this quote, John Blackwell. Will he go into the NBA Draft? He's already submitted his name while keeping his college eligibility. The expectation is that he is only sniffing the NBA Draft to see where they think he currently sits and what parts of his game he can work on to rise higher for next year's NBA Draft.
However, if the scouts come back telling him that he could go high and ink a good NBA deal, there's a chance he decides to fully commit to the NBA. If that's the case, it not only opens up a starting spot but also a huge hole to fill in terms of production.
All of this only continues to support John Blackwell's assessment that, "Gard is not done."
