The Big Ten volleyball preseason awards are out, and the Badgers have a few players represented on the list. The three Wisconsin stars to find their way on the preseason all-conference team are Carter Booth, Mimi Colyer, and Charlie Fuerbringer. None of them were unanimous selections (meaning all the voters picked them to be on the all-conference team). Wisconsin head coach Kelly Sheffield can't believe this snub. In his mind, they are all easily some of the best players in the conference.
He took to social media to say, "Apparently there are folks who don't think Carter Booth, Mimi Colyer, and Charlie Fuerbringer are amongst the Top 20 players in the league (Franklin wasn't unanimous last year either." He then slaps a laughing/crying face emoji at the end.

Kelly Sheffield can't believe Booth, Colyer, and Fuerbringer are not unanimous selections for the Big Ten awards
The only unanimous selections on the list of Top 20 players in the conference were Andi Jackson, Harper Murray, and Bergen Reilly from Nebraska, and Kennedy Martin and Izzy Starck from Penn State. That group of five is all top players in the conference and the country, but to Sheffield's point, so are Booth, Colyer, and Fuerbringer.
Sheffield goes on to point out that Sarah Franklin wasn't a unanimous selection last year either, which was insane at the time, considering she won the National Player of the Year award in 2023. This means that one or more of the voters last year didn't consider the best player in volleyball to be a top 20 player in the conference. Those voter rights may need to be revoked.
However, this may be a nice little fuel to the fire. While Wisconsin volleyball is an elite program and among the top in the country, the team is frustrated that they didn't make it to the Final Four last season, and it has been about four years since they last won the National Championship. Many inside the program and even outside pundits have the Badgers as one of the top contenders for this coming season.
