Kelly Sheffield tested a true freshman at a random spot vs Green Bay

And she looked solid there.

The Wisconsin Badgers completed the super sweep over Green Bay yesterday, 5-0. Since it's the spring, the games don't officially count towards any postseason or official record. The two teams kept going through five sets. The Badgers won all five of them. There were some big takeaways like how dominant Jaele Auguste looked, how Eva Travis has an incredible spark, and the true freshmen all need minutes.

Yet, one takeaway needs to be noted on its own. The fact that Lynney Tarnow started the first set as the right-side hitter and played there at various points throughout the match. That's notable, as she's not a right-side hitter, hasn't played much as a hitter, and is the tallest player on the team. Her natural position is middle blocker. There's something interesting happening, though.

Lynney Tarnow found some playing time at RS Hitter for Wisconsin

Grace Lopez wasn't playing in this game, the exact reason wasn't named or said but the most likely reason is she still could use a little time in her recovery. The injury that knocked her out last season wasn't a quick fix and takes time to fully heal. However, that left the right side open to other players. Grace Egan was also still not available.

Thus, that leaves Kelly Sheffield with only one right side left on the roster, Kymora Scott. Scott, though, may need a little more development time on the right side. So, why not try one of his star true freshmen there? The Badgers are already going to have a tough time finding enough minutes for all of them. Sliding a middle blocker over to the right side isn't overly uncommon.

Tarnow excelled on the right side. She still is mostly a middle blocker and will find most of her minutes in the winter there, but she has some pop on the right side. The official box score lists only three sets, as the match was decided after three. In those three sets, she had five kills.
