After quarterbacks Tyler Van Dyke, Braedyn Locke, and Cole LaCrue entered the portal, the last scholarship quarterback from the 2024 team has now also submitted his name. Mabrey Mettauer will enter the transfer portal according to Matt Zenitz.

Former 4-star Wisconsin signee Mabrey Mattauer will enter the transfer portal
Mettauer was a four-star recruit from the 2024 class from Texas. He had one pass for two yards this year in a season he spent backing up Van Dyke and Locke. Mettauer was a good fit for former offensive coordinator Phil Longo's system, but after Longo's firing the writing was on the wall for quarterback, and he'll now look elsewhere for his next opportunity.
Now that Mettauer has entered the portal, not a single scholarship quarterback from the 2024 season is left on the roster. The quarterback room currently has three scholarship players, all new for 2025. Transfers Billy Edwards Jr. and Danny O'Neil and freshman Carter Smith will most likely be joined by at least one or two more new quarterbacks.
Mettauer will leave with four years of eligibility left.
