Luke Fickell already has Wisconsin getting the Peacock treatment in back-to-back games

Wisconsin football is off to a 1-1 start and is exactly where everyone thought they would be through two games, and yet no one is happy about the Badgers. The Notre Dame game was ugly in the second half, and you could say the same about the Western Illinois game, which is an FCS opponent Now, Wisconsin is already getting the "Peacock treatment."

The Badgers knew they had a Peacock game against Eastern Michigan and considering it's a Power Four team versus a low-tier FBS team, it make sense. Putting that game on a subscription service makes perfect sense. However, Wisconsin got brutal TV news when the Penn State game was also scheduled for Peacock.

There's a phrase about getting the "Peacock treatment" means that NBC has flexed their not as important games to the subscription service. Getting the "big-time" games on network TV. Oregon and USC got that spot over Wisconsin and Penn State, and of course, it makes sense, but once again Wisconsin is considered not a big game.

The Penn State game was the game that was circled before the season as the real litmus test for the Badgers. It's a game that many were hoping would reveal whether Luke Fickell has turned things around or not. Penn State got a new coach and a pretty new roster, but on paper the Nittany Lions are still much better than the Badgers; however, they are the closer team to jump than, say, Notre Dame.

The Notre Dame game could have been close, in an ideal world, but no one expected it to be. However, if Wisconsin had looked better through two games, you'd definitely think that NBC would have thought harder about putting Wisconsin vs. Penn State on the broadcast side. An upset brewing does wonders for ratings. The network instead has determined it's not a game Wisconsin will win.

ESPN Analytics also agrees; with the game being at Beaver Stadium, Wisconsin is only given an 11.7% chance to pull off the stunning upset. NBC had to make a business decision, and it doesn't help Wisconsin fans at all.

So, Badger Nation had better consider getting a subscription to Peacock (we see you, NBC) in order to watch the next two games. There's also a chance that Wisconsin gets relegated to Peacock throughout the season, as NBC has some rights to Big Ten games and may push others to that network.

It's a major frustration for fans, especially older fans, who don't have subscription services, and it's an extra cost to watch the Badgers. As fans are already not showing up to games, with very low attendance on Saturdays, this is another barrier that may push Wisconsin fans deeper into apathy until something proves they should pay attention. Winning consistently will fix all of this. Upset Penn State in Beaver Stadium and change the entire narrative going forward.
