Earlier last month, Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell confirmed that the Badgers would be active in the transfer portal when it comes to securing a quarterback. Now, it appears as though they've been linked to one of the top names in portal, and could be zeroing in on their new starter.
According to reports from On3, Wisconsin, along with several other programs, is emerging as a team to watch for Notre Dame transfer Kenny Minchey.
Badgers already linked to top name in the transfer portal: Kenny Minchey

Minchey, a four-star recruit from Notre Dame's 2023 class, entered the transfer portal after losing the starting job to CJ Carr. It was reported that the battle for the starting position was much closer than people expected, and it created a lot of hype around the young signal-caller. Minchey completed 20-for-26 passes for 196 yards in limited action this year.
While Minchey has limited experience, his talent make him a bit of a high-risk, but high-reward player. The fact that he lost the starting role to Carr shouldn't concern Badger fans though, and Minchey likely would have won the job at hundreds of other programs in the country. He still has two years of eligibility left as well, opening the door for a multi-year starter for Fickell.
While fans are still waiting to see what happens with current quarterbacks Billy Edwards Jr. and Carter Smith, Minchey would likely be the clear-cut starter simply based on the upside alone if he did indeed join the Badgers.
