Wisconsin is set to host dozens of high school recruits over the next few weeks, and one of the instrumental personnel behind the scenes to make it happen is now gone. Brandon Rose, Wisconsin's associate director of player personnel, is off to UCLA with a promotion. He will now run his own player personnel department for the Bruins.
While it's good to see an up-and-coming name in the player personnel industry get a big opportunity, it doesn't come at a great time for Wisconsin. As the associate director of player personnel, is often knee deep in the visits, helping them work smoothly. Has often been part of the process of making contact with all these recruits and even getting the visits set up.

Brandon Rose is a name that won't ring any bells for Wisconsin fans, but that's purely because of the behind-the-scenes nature of the gig. However, recruits will know the name and will have even interacted with Rose. While that won't make or break a recruit's decision to pick a program, they are part of the process of making it smooth.
This is already the second shake-up in the same office. It was in March that the director of player personnel, Darius Hicks, was hired after Ethan Russo left for Oklahoma State. The department also lost Max Steinecker to USC not long before that.
These staffers are all being poached from Wisconsin, which shows that something good is happening in the department even if it has yet to translate on the field.
Rose being gone puts extra pressure on Hicks and the rest of his staff during this season, with official visits starting this weekend. It may not be long before a replacement is made, but it doesn't come at the best time.
