The Wisconsin Badgers have landed another in-state recruit for the 2027 cycle. This time, it was a player who had initially gotten away. 3-star linebacker Keaton Wollan had committed to Iowa State but now has jumped inside the wall that Luke Fickell has been building around the state. Wollan joins a class of 13 players, with nine of them being from the state of Wisconsin.
Wollan committed to the Cyclones back in April, as the Badgers hadn't offered him yet. However, a workout in front of Badger coaches led to an instant offer from Fickell and his staff. Wollan flipped pretty much immediately, telling recruiting expert Evan Flood, "I have dreamed this almost my whole life."

The Wisconsin Badgers now rank inside the top-15 in the country in the 2027 recruiting class, and almost all of that energy is coming from homegrown Wisconsin kids. Fickell, with his increased recruiting NIL funding, has poured a lot into keeping in-state kids home.
He's done it in droves. Of the 13 players ranked in the state of Wisconsin, Fickell has landed nine of them and the top-5 according to 24/7 Sports. That's an impressive haul.
As for Wollan, he's a linebacker who has been flying a bit under the radar. He only has four offers from Iowa State, Texas Tech, North Dakota State, and now Wisconsin. However, Wollan was an absolute stat stuffer at Amery High School in Amery, Wisconsin. He accumulated 125 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and three interceptions last season. That's an impressive season for the young player.
He also impressed Wisconsin when they finally saw him in person at a workout. It didn't take long for the two parties to sync up and Fickell to keep another in-state kid home.
