The Wisconsin fanbase has found a lot of hope not simply from pulling off a big upset over the No. 23 Washington Huskies but because of the young guys who are either already stars as true freshmen or looking like they will develop into that shortly. Mason Posa fits the bill, and his play has sent a jolt of excitement through the fanbase.

Now, he's making promises that should fire up Wisconsin fans, for two big reasons, he said this the other day during media availability, "I think we're building something special in Madison, we're gonna be national title contenders. I promise you that."

This statement is exciting for two huge reasons. The obvious one is that Posa thinks Wisconsin will become a national-championship-caliber program. For the optimistic, that's like music to their ears. For the pessimistic or at least skeptical, it sounds like an empty promise that recruits, players, and coaches say all the time. If that second one is you, let's turn to the second reason this promise is awesome.

This sounds like a player who has no plans to go anywhere else. Doesn't have a grass is greener mentality or know that his strong play this season for a down-bad Wisconsin team has set him up for a big payday in the transfer portal. Once again, this could be an "empty promise" statement, and the skeptical will say, "his agent or influences in his life will push him towards more money."

Which may be true, but for now, we have to take him at his word. Posa wants to be a Badger, and he's making statements that should fire up Wisconsin fans.
