Forget the controversy or how the Michigan "non-loss" feels like it was rigged. None of that is what we need to talk about as Wisconsin fans. We need to talk about the blatant hypocrisy of Michigan fans from 2025 to 2026. There was a ton of criticism against Wisconsin last season for storming the field at Camp Randall after beating both Washington and Illinois. Michigan fans were not only part of it, but were aggressively vocal about it.
Now, there is egg on their faces for storming the field against Western Michigan. Wisconsin, a program trying to find its way back to relevance, beat TWO ranked teams and stormed the field. Michigan was gifted a win by the Big Ten refs, beating a MAC team, a team ranked No. 78 in Fox Sports' preseason rankings. You gotta be kidding me...

Michigan fans in 2025: "It's so embarrassing Wisconsin fans stormed the field after beating #21 Illinois"

I want to be clear: I am very pro-field storming. I think it's a great thing for students and fans to participate in and should be a part of the game-day experience, BUT only when it's necessary. It's a rare treat, not a given on a win. It's like getting to go on a tropical vacation: you don't get to do it all the time; you get to do it sparingly and only when you've earned it, paid for it, and worked for it. Or a really great birthday treat. You don't get to eat birthday cake every day or, in this case, every game.
Michigan should be embarassed about storming the field in a game stolen from Western Michigan

Beating Western Michigan isn't one of those treats. And if you want to argue that neither is Illinois or Washington, you can make that argument. But you better stand by it when you beat a MAC school. Cause the argument "Wow, look how far Wisconsin has fallen" is now ugly when you consider Michigan stormed against Western Michigan in a game they were favored to win by over 20 points.
Wisconsin was at least the underdog in both of the games they stormed the field. And in a very down year as a program, winning felt monumental each and every time the Badgers did it in 2025, much less against a ranked team.
Michigan should be absolutely embarrassed that they stormed the field after playing and "non-losing" against Western Michigan, especially considering how the game played out. In fact, they should have left the Big House with their heads hung and moping all the way to the car.
Let's summarize as we finish this up: fans should be able to storm the field, but only against big wins. Sure, Illinois and Washington are borderline, and maybe only a top-10 win should qualify, especially when unranked. But for Michigan, this is embarassing, on many fronts and in many ways, but the hyprocisy of it all, is maybe the worst part.
