The Badgers, winners of their last four, are finally starting to hit their stride. It's thanks, in part, to some key transfers starting to find their place at Wisconsin. So, midway through the season, how have each of the four transfers fared so far?
Boyd has been as advertised and has provided valuable scoring to pair alongside John Blackwell. He leads the team in scoring and assists, and has shown strong leadership from the point guard position. Boyd is streaky at times, but his relentlessness on offense has often powered the Badgers on slow nights. While Blackwell and Winter are still big parts of this Badger offense, if Wisconsin makes a run in the NCAA Tournament, it's 100% going to be because of this man.
Rodhe hasn't lit up the scoreboard, but he does a lot of the dirty work for Wisconsin. He's top three on the team in both assists and steals, and could honestly become a scoring threat if Wisconsin asked him. Rohde is someone coach Greg Gard can trust, and as the season progresses, he'll need more and more of those guys. Not every transfer is a Nick Boyd, but Rohde doesn't need to be. He does his job, and does it well.
Carrington has come on late, averaging 13 points per game over his last three. He's shown to be a reliable three-point shooter, and at 41.8%, leads all Badgers with at least five attempts. Carrington is once again a player who came to the Badgers to do a job, and that's exactly what he's done. Wisconsin will need his shooting down the stretch.
While Rapp receives the lowest grade here, he hasn't been awful. Maybe there was too much pressure on him early to make the jump up to Big Ten play, or possibly he was forced to play a role he wasn't suited for. Either way, Rapp has quietly slipped towards the end of the Badgers' rotation, and after missing most of early January due to injury, he's got some ground to make up. He's shooting just 38% from the field, and will need to improve significantly if his minutes are to increase.
