The Wisconsin Badgers accomplished their second sweep of the NCAA Tournament to advance to the round of 16 over the North Carolina Tar Heels. It was an impressive showing from the Badgers as they ready themselves for whoever advances to face them. No one was more impressive than Mimi Colyer, who recorded 22 kills. She, as well as other seniors, was emotional after the match, taking in the UW Field House one last time.
She was asked about this moment in the post-game interview, and her tearful response will make any Wisconsin fan proud to be a Badger.
"Yeah, I mean, I've been saying it since I got here. Coming to Wisconsin was the best decision I've ever made. This program and this fan base is just so special. I could literally start crying right now (Narrator: She did start crying). The love that we have for each other and the love that this fan base has for each other is just so special. It's incredible. There's nothing like it. To be able to have that from the fans and be able to experience that is just it's you'll never...I'll never feel like that again. And it's just something that I'm soaking in and I'm so grateful for it."Mimi Colyer
Mimi Colyer, the feeling is mutual - Wisconsin fans love you as much as you love us
While the Badgers are advancing, Colyer won't be playing another game in the UW Field House as she's a Senior and the rest of the NCAA Tournament games are played elsewhere.
Colyer spent most of her volleyball career at Oregon and came this final year to play for Wisconsin, and she calls it the best decision she's ever made. As a Wisconsin fan, it's hard not to be proud about players coming to Madison and learning how special it actually is. Colyer has been blown away since she arrived, and she's leaving with tears in her eyes.
She's hoping to make the magical run continue as the Badgers will head to Texas to take on the winner of Kansas and Stanford in the round of 16. Last season, Wisconsin made it to the round of 8 before being swept by Nebraska. This year, they wouldn't see Nebraska until the championship if both teams make it that far.
