The NCAA tournament selection committee released its top 16 seeds this morning before the big matchup between Wisconsin and Purdue. CBS analysts and Bubba Cunningham, chair of the selection committee, broke down the top teams and their seed order/regions. Wisconsin was the 11th overall seed and a 3-seed in the South Region in Atlanta, Georgia.
This is currently just a projection from the selection committee. There is still a month of basketball to play before the actual bracket is unveiled. Wisconsin fans had mixed reactions to the news.

Wisconsin is projected as a 3-seed out of the South Region and 11th overall for March Madness
There were mixed reactions to this seeding. On the one hand, it's a high seeding for a team that was expected to underperform. This high ranking continues to showcase the magic of this season and how exceptional Greg Gard has made them perform. On the other hand, Wisconsin's most recent history with the 3-seed is frustrating. In 2022, it led to a second-round exit, as they fell to Iowa State and didn't even make it out of the weekend.

They are the third-ranked 3-seed, being the 11th overall seed. Ahead of them is Iowa St. at 9, Kentucky at 10, and behind them is Arizona at 12. This means they are relatively comfortably on the 3-seed line but not really close to jumping into the 2-seed.
Their opponent today and projected Big Ten champion is a projected 2-seed and number 7th overall, Purdue out of the Midwest Region. Thus, today's matchup is effectively a No. 7 vs. a No. 11 according to the NCAA Selection Committee.
If this projection were to come true, Wisconsin would be in the same region as the No. 1 overall seed in Auburn, followed by Texas A&M as the 2-seed, then Wisconsin, and finally, the 4-seed would be Texas Tech.
