A day after Nyzier Fourqurean was granted an extra year of eligibility by the courts, he posted on X that the NCAA is fighting back and appealing the decision. This puts Fourqurean in a weird spot because it's back to a level of uncertainty for the senior defensive back. He had entered his name in the draft, and February 7th is the date he has to pull his name out or leave it in. He wasn't sure what to do now that the NCAA is appealing.

The NCAA is appealing the Nyzier Fourqurean court decision to grant an extra year of eligibility

Fourqurean was fighting for an extra year based on his first two seasons of college football being at a DII college. This comes on the back of Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia taking the NCAA to court over junior college years. The courts decided in Pavia's favor, saying JUCO years should not count against eligibility. Fourqurean is making a similar appeal but about DII. In the note he posted online, he said:

"Rather than allowing me to play, the NCAA filed an appeal and refused to grant a waiver to me as was done for others like me. It is clear the NCAA is not done fighting my ability to play. The decision to appeal by the NCAA left me in a tough spot because opting out of the draft is not something that can wait while the appeal process continues."

He ultimately decided to take his name out of the draft and trust the process and the court's original decision on his behalf. Ending his note with, "I am excited for what this year will bring and hopeful that I will be able to be out there with my teammates, representing my school for the duration of the year."

Fourqurean would be a major retention for the Wisconsin Badgers to go along with senior Ricardo Hallman. Those two would help shore up the left and right side of the defensive secondary and give confidence to Luke Fickell and his veteran secondary.
