Purdue was the beneficiary of one of the worst basketball calls all season, as Wisconsin's Kamari McGee was ejected from the game after a flagrant two call against him. It was initially called a common moving screen foul on Trey Kaufman-Renn but was switched to McGee and then elevated to an ejection flagrant two. Which college fans all over the country thought was an absolute garbage call. You can read about those reactions here.
There's a new angle, that was shown during the broadcast that shows how truly McGee was hosed and the call was completely wrong. The sad reality is that the refs had this angle and clearly thought they should still give McGee a flagrant two. The announcers couldn't believe it, Greg Gard couldn't believe it, and McGee didn't even realize it until someone told him.

Wisconsin's Kamari McGee was ejected over a terrible call by the Big Ten refs against Purdue
A flagrant two, according to the NCAA rule book, is a foul that is considered βbrutal, harsh or cruel or dangerous or punishing." In what world is fighting through a screen of a guy that's a foot taller than you where you make incidental contact with the groin a "brutal, harsh, cruel, or dangerous"? Accidents happen in basketball all the time, and this is clearly one of them. At no point was there intent by McGee, and it wasn't even hard enough to cause injury.
There is a case to be made that a foul could have been called on McGee, but there's no world where it should be a flagrant two call. Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard will need to petition the Big Ten for clarification on the call, and really, the Big Ten should fix these calls.
It will affect the outcome of the game and neither fanbase should feel good about that.
