This year's NFL Draft will take place during April in Green Bay. But before then, NFL hopefuls will have a chance to showcase their abilities and improve their draft stock at the Combine. Three Badgers have received invites to take part in the scouting event held in Indianapolis from February 27th to March 2nd.
Former offensive lineman Joe Huber, safety Hunter Wohler and offensive lineman Jack Nelson have all received an invitation to the NFL Combine. According to PFF's Big Board, Huber rankes No. 318, Wolher ranks No. 218, and Nelson ranks as the No. 180 overall prospect. Much like last season, which also saw three Badgers go to the combine, most are projected as day two or three selections.
Will Nelson, Wohler and Huber improve their draft stock?
Nelson, the Badgers' top rated prospect, can play either left or right tackle, and would provide some good versatility in a draft class without a lot of true tackles. Wohler had the opportunity to turn pro after the 2023 season, but chose to stick around for his senior year. He made less splashy plays, but was still very solid despite missing some time due to injury. Huber may not hear his name called in the draft, but a good combine can change his ranking.
After cornerbacks Ricardo Hallman and Nyzier Fourqurean returned to Wisconsin for another year, the only other Badgers who may have a shot at getting drafted are linebackers Jaheim Thomas and Jake Chaney. Neither received a combine invite, so they'll need to prove their worth at Wisconsin's pro day this spring.
