Russell Wilson doubters are back to start the season, as Jaxson Dart is trying to beat out Wilson for the starting position. The Giants will also eventually want to prove that moving up in the draft for Jaxson Dart was worth it, and the pick mattered. Wilson, no stranger to QB competitions, is maybe a pawn in a larger game of an organization and a head coach with a lot to prove and a young QB to highlight.

Two different NFL insiders have predicted that not only will former Badger star Russell Wilson eventually go to the bench so Dart can get the spotlight, but also when that will happen. At what point in the season will the keys get turned over?

Ian Rapoport says, it's a matter of "when not if" for Dart's starting position in the 2025 season.

Russell Wilson is in the midst of another QB battle even though he's proven to be better

If you listen to Ian Rapoport in that clip above you can tell it's not that Dart is outperforming Wilson. In fact, all the information from the Giants' camps seems to be the opposite. He may not even be outperforming Jameis Winston. But it's more about Daboll's need to prove Dart was worth the pick, and he's the long-term solution for the Giants. There's more pride than talent involved right now, which puts Wilson in a weird spot.

NFL Insider Daniel Jeremiah predicts Dart will start in Week 7. He suggests looking at the 10-day gap between the Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos games as a potential spot they could make the change. Because of the long period in between, they use that time to get Dart ready. It also allows him to miss a potential frustrating defense in the Eagles. That would be quite a "welcome to the NFL moment."

The reality is, if Russell is getting wins for the Giants, it would be hard to make the switch just to justify a draft move up. However, if the wheels are coming off, you could definitely see Wilson giving the keys to Dart for the sake of NFL starting reps.
