Nick Boyd is really good, and his first four games in a Wisconsin jersey have shown just how good he can be. He's scored 21, 25, 12, and 22 in each of those games with only five total turnovers. Last night against SIUE, he had zero turnovers and five assists. That's the stuff that Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard dreams about.
Boyd is in elite company with only John Tonje and Johnny Davis as players to average more than 20 points per game in the first four games of a season, according to Benjamin Worgull. That's a short list of some of Wisconsin's best.
Nick Boyd raised his scoring average to 20.0 ppg.

Only John Tonje (23.5) and Johnny Davis (20.3) have a higher point per game average than Boyd through the first four games of a season.#Badgers

Greg Gard has pulled another guard out of his hat with Nick Boyd. This is now the third season in a row he's gone into the portal and found a gem. Three years ago, it was AJ Storr, last season it was John Tonje, and now it's Nick Boyd.
Boyd continues to impress as he settles into Gard's offense and finds a way to not only get the ball into the hoop but help his teammates do the same. His five assists against SIUE are now a season high.
Gard has paired him with John Blackwell, who had 24 of his own points in the game yesterday. These two are like the slash and dash brothers, as they both can feed off each other and find ways to elevate each other's game. It's going to be a fun combo to watch all season.
The next game on Friday is against No. 9 BYU, and Gard says his team is amped up to play that game as it will be the first real test of the season.
