Wisconsin defensive back Nyzier Fourqurean has been in a legal battle for over a year, and at every turn, he's been knocked down. He continues to get up and fight, finding a new approach and a new angle, and mental toughness to push through every brick wall in his way. This year was supposed to be his prove-it year for the NFL, but the courts haven't let him play. Now, he's made the difficult decision to pull the plug on the legal fight.
In a social media post yesterday, Fourqurean wrote a heartfelt note, and you can sense his frustration leaking through in every word. He's done everything the right way but has been wrecked by a broken system and by courts that can't seem to make timely decisions. Read his post below:
If you know me, you know what I’ve been through. Still won’t be denied! Thankyou Wisconsin! #OnWisconsin ❤️ pic.twitter.com/Gpq1K64Dxz

In the clip above, the final section is cut off, but Fourqurean says, "I have been able to practice and be around the team as normal and have improved tremendously over the year. With huge goals for myself and this team, I am super disappointed to not be able to make a positive impact for our team on the field. I look forward to my pro day and an opportunity with an NFL team."
Fourqurean has fully turned the page, and while he will now have an uphill battle to get the NFL opportunity he desperately seeks, without game film from this season. The hard work he references this year in practice will have to be fully showcased during his Wisconsin Pro Day and any other tryouts or workouts he can get in front of NFL scouts.
It's a frustrating note to read for fans, too, as Fourqurean was not just needed this season; he's one of the players you naturally root for. Played the game the right way and cared for his teammates around him. It would have been great if the NCAA hadn't decided to make examples of players like Fourqurean, but it is what they do all over the FBS and in every court case that comes against them.
