The Final Four kicks off later this evening, and there's a lot of anticipation and hype around the event. All four teams left were number one seeds: the Houston Cougars, Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, and Duke Blue Devils. That last team features a freshman phenom named Kon Knueppel, who grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as a Badger fan.
This morning, an account posted a photo of Knueppel as a kid in the 2015 Final Four, taking it all in from Indianapolis, Indiana. However, the caption that went along with the story said "watching Duke" and went on to create a narrative in which he grew up as a Blue Devils fan. Quickly, Wisconsin fans corrected it.

Wisconsin fans, including Sam Dekker, who played on that 2015 team, jumped on the photo and said things like, "He wasn't there for Duke," or " He was rooting for Wisconsin." Many even pointed out that he's wearing a Wisconsin Badgers jersey in the photo. Knueppel didn't grow up rooting for Duke; he grew up rooting for Wisconsin.
That Final Four featured the Wisconsin Badgers taking on the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats, with the other matchup being the Duke Blue Devils taking on Tom Izzo's Michigan State Spartans. The championship game came down to Duke vs. Wisconsin, and Knueppel may not be rooting for Duke, but at the time, he was cheering for his heroes in red and white.

Many Wisconsin fans are still frustrated that Knueppel never became a Badger after growing up rooting for them. Some even joked on social media that this was the moment he realized the calls went towards the Blue Devils and that he would have to join them to win a title.
At the end of the day, get the narrative straight. He became a Blue Devil the day he committed to Duke, but before that, he was a Badger.
