One Badger would be a perfect fit for the Green Bay Packers' draft class

Without a first-round pick this year, the Green Bay Packers draft might not be getting all the attention, but there are still plenty of good players down the board to target. It just so happens that one former Badgers makes all the sense in the world for the Green and Gold.

Edge Mason Reiger has been climbing up draft boards after a dominant showing at the East-West Shrine Bowl. There, he took home Defensive MVP honors, and will now further showcase his skills as one of two Badgers who received an NFL Combine invite.

So could the Packers use a third-round pick on the Wisconsin edge rusher? Absolutely, they should.

Packers may find their answer at edge very close to home

While Micah Parsons heals from a torn ACL, the other edge rushers on the Packers are much less settled. Quay Walker and Rashan Gary could end up as cap-casualties, and Lucas Van Ness hasn't shown he can be the guy they had hoped he would be just yet, so another addition at edge is likely coming for Green Bay.

Reiger's raw numbers for Wisconsin weren't gaudy. With just five sacks in 2025, he won't likely drop any jaws on paper. But Reiger has ideal size at 6-foot-5, 250-pounds, and has elite speed and power. It was obvious after Parsons went down with injury that the Packers lacked pass-rush without him, and Reiger could be a nice prize in the mid-rounds for Green Bay.

Green Bay still has other needs to worry about, like cornerback and nose tackle, but Reiger makes perfect sense for the Packers. Reiger may continue to impress at the combine and price himself out of range of the Packers, but if there's a reasonable opportunity to take him, Green Bay couldn't go wrong keeping the Badger in-state.
