6-27 overall record. Don Morton. 2. Wisconsin football. . 1987-1989. Don Morton. 493. . player

Don Morton is one of two coaches in Wisconsin football history who were unable to eclipse 10 wins. Morton was successful in his other head coaching jobs with North Dakota State and Tulsa. However, when he got to Wisconsin, he struggled to repeat his success in the smaller programs.

Here is a breakdown of Morton's time with the Badgers.

  • 1987: 3-8, 1-7 conference
  • 1988: 1-10, 1-7 conference
  • 1989: 2-9, 1-7 conference

Morton was never able to get more than one win in conference play and that is what led to his firing after the 1989 season.
