Wisconsin has landed its first commitment via the transfer portal. Offensive lineman Leyton Nelson from Vanderbilt announced his intentions on Monday.

Nelson, a projected tackle for the Badgers, was originally a three-star recruit out of Florida and rated as the number 39 tackle in the portal according to 247Sports.

Nelson will reunite with a familiar face in offensive line coach A.J. Blazek, who left Vandy to join the Badgers staff earlier this year. The move will provide depth for the Badgers in a year where, surprisingly, offensive line isn't the strength of the team. Nelson played only 60 snaps the previous year with Vanderbilt, so he'll still have work to do to make significant contributions to the Badgers.

Nelson still has several years of eligibility so this could be looked as a longer term commitment for the 2024 season and beyond.
